The lane count rises at the interchange and falls again on either side. The reported effect was that the bottleneck moved about 800 metres north. The cost overrun was blamed on variable rock conditions.

The interchange widens to five lanes and then hands the traffic straight back to two at each end. The queue did not go away; it reportedly re-formed about 800 metres up the highway.
